What is Indoor Track & Field?

Indoor track and field is a sport that takes place in an indoor arena, typically during the winter months. It includes events such as sprints, hurdles, middle and long distance running, as well as jumping and throwing events. The track is usually 200 meters in length, banked on the curves, and is made of a special surface that provides good traction for athletes.

Where will we train?

Currently, there aren't any indoor track and field facilities in California, so our training will be held outdoors at Monterey Penninsula College every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday* from 5:00-6:00 PM beginning September 30th.

*some Friday sessions will be held at Chartwell School in Seaside due to events at MPC

What is the focus for the 3 month indoor season?

Our winter season training program is designed to not only focus on specific indoor track and field events, but also on building foundational strength for the upcoming outdoor season. We will be emphasizing balance and stabilization, introducing the basics of plyometrics, and highlighting the benefits of Olympic lifts to increase power output and prevent injuries.

We will utilize agility ladders, plyo boxes, resistance bands, training sleds, and the Exer-Genie speed trainer.
